Question by : Professors not letting you use laptops during class?
This semester I am taking 3 campus classes and 2 online classes. In all three on-campus classes my professors do not allow the use of laptop computers including Nooks and Kindles during class. It seems ridiculous to me because I am a 5th year Senior and have never had, seen or heard of this happening before. Professors say it is due to distractions to other students in the classroom when students use their computers to play games, watch You Tube, or Facebook during class. My personal feeling is that I pay the big bucks to go to school to learn and am 23 years of age... if I want to use my computer to take notes or follow a powerpoint or website then I should have the ability to do so. Many students were pissed because many of us bought the textbooks "for computer or e-readers"... why can't we follow the text like those who bought a physical book. What do you think?
@ alvin480 Good idea... I don't care where I sit in the lecture hall, so if you made me sit in the back with a computer that seems fine by me. I also have Aspergers Syndrome so hand writing anything takes double the amount of time. I can type as a professor talks and format it later!

I'm glad they don't.
Don't you know how to take notes and pay attention properly? Laptops are far too distracting and I've never been in a class where it was allowed...not in the 90's or from 2007-2011.
That's right...you do pay to go to school. And the professors are there to teach you. You are not there to get your own way at how you are taught or all the crap you can bring into a class. There are rules to follow....even in college. If you don't like the rules, then go to another university or go completely online.
